Don't you love those moments when you ask the students an open-ended question and expect to get a simple response, but are blown away by their insight? Well, that happened today. We were discussing cultural diversity and why we read books that deal with it in the fourth grade.
So I asked, "Why do you think we read these kinds of books?"
One student responded, "Back then they saw lots of different types of people, but where we grow up we don't see all of those things. That's why we read these books."
Literally took my breath away. And our discussion was done.
Happy Friday!
